Kevin Abosch opens the first exhibition at TAEX's new gallery in Monaco this week. Testing Ground, a solo show, runs October 9 to November 30, 2026 at TAEX Gallery Monaco in Mareterra, 12 Quai du Petit Portier, open 11 am to 7 pm and closed Mondays. TAEX describes the work this way: "Using computational processes, Abosch creates landscapes that look photographic but depict places that do not exist on a map. Familiar yet difficult to place, the works question the boundaries between real and fictional images." The invitation image is Oranda (2026).

TAEX premiered Testing Ground, "a new series of moving and still works," at Art Basel's Zero 10 section in Hong Kong in March, where archival pigment prints from the series were selected for the booth. In an interview with Whitewall ahead of that fair, Abosch rejected the idea of the machine as a partner: "I actually resist the word 'collaborator,' because it smuggles in a kind of emotional equality that isn't really accurate." He called it "an instrument that has become unpredictable at scale," and placed authorship in selection: "The voice is in what I decide is worth keeping, and what I refuse to normalize."

Abosch, born in 1969, is an Irish conceptual artist based in Paris who has worked with machine learning and computer vision since 1992. Earlier this year he was among the contributors to The Machine's Eye in Human Hands at Fotografiska Stockholm, where he gave an artist talk on May 9 during the exhibition's opening weekend.
