CRYPTOART/NFTS ARE BACK!: ROBNESS Remixes Gibberish on SuperRare
ROBNESS minted an artificial remix of Celentano’s gibberish classic into ROBNESS TELEVISION on SuperRare — reserve auction closed at 0.14 ETH to @cobotica.
ROBNESS does not ask permission of language. He never has. On 24 September 2026 he minted a video into a new SuperRare collection, ROBNESS TELEVISION, under @robnessv4, and titled it with the blunt cheer of a timeline caption: CRYPTOART/NFTS ARE BACK!😎🫵. By the next afternoon the reserve auction had closed at 0.14 ETH (~$376 at settle) to collector @cobotica.
The artist’s own description is the work’s best wall text. Someone told him to mint “this” from the X timeline; he did. The piece began, he writes, as an X.com post: an “ARTIFICIAL REMIX” of the legendary music-video / TV-show spot for Adriano Celentano’s Prisencolinensinainciusol. Tags on the token keep the joke honest — CRYPTOART, JIBBERISH, and the unpronounceable title itself.
Celentano released that single on 3 November 1972 (Robness’s blurb says 1973, the year of the Nostalrock album). The track is not English, not Italian, and not nonsense for nonsense’s sake. As Celentano later told NPR, the theme was the inability to communicate: slang without semantics, American English as heard by someone who does not speak it. Improvised over a looped beat, it became a European chart presence and, decades later, an internet evergreen.
That genealogy fits ROBNESS. Long before generative video, he stress-tested crypto art with appropriation and trash — the open-source shrug, the refusal of polished originality. Here the appropriation is temporal and medial. A 1970s Italian television spectacle about fake English is folded, by machine, around the face and voice of a Los Angeles crypto-art pioneer who has spent a decade speaking in memes, burns, and glitch. The artificial remix does not clarify Celentano’s gibberish; it extends it.
Technically the release is spare and public: Ethereum ERC-721, token 1 of a one-work collection, video roughly 1112×834, metadata on IPFS. The auction ran about a day from a 0.001 ETH reserve. Celentano sang a language nobody could learn; ROBNESS tokenized a remix nobody needs to translate. Cryptoart, he insists with a pointing emoji, is back.
