We Are Not in Kansas Anymore: Hafftka on Bitcoin

Michael Hafftka, whose paintings sit in MoMA and the Met, keeps inscribing new work on Bitcoin, including We Are Not in Kansas Anymore in March 2026.

Michael Hafftka has been painting since the 1970s. His work is held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, SFMOMA, and the British Museum. On Bitcoin, he has been inscribing Ordinals since early 2024.

On March 8, 2026 he inscribed We Are Not in Kansas Anymore, a JPEG still listed on Gamma under Hafftka Ordinals. Earlier pieces in the same run include 21 BTC Monkeys (November 2025) and Treasury Meltdown (September 2025). That March he also published a catalog raisonné as an open dataset on Hugging Face, roughly 3,000 to 4,000 documented works spanning five decades, and said he was still minting on Ethereum and Solana while inscribing new pieces on Bitcoin.

The Ordinals sit beside the paintings: same hand, different substrate, still adding to a living record.
