Demon Ego: STUPIDS REDUX Celebrates Foolishness on Verse

Demon Ego auctions 5 new STUPIDS videos on Verse with HEX ENDUCTION, short films for the monsterized uglies, and sends every bidder a gift episode.

Demon Ego brought 5 new video works to Verse this week as STUPIDS REDUX, presented by HEX ENDUCTION. The 24 hour auctions opened on October 14 at 1 PM EDT and closed on October 15. The pieces run from 15 seconds to 1 minute, and the opening bids followed their length. Verse framed the collection as a work that takes aim at ideas about human nature that disguise our capacity for foolishness, asking what happens when we stop trying to appear rational.

The STUPIDS are, in the artist's words, the monsterized uglies: the ones whose minds or faces were judged ugly, laughed at and pushed aside. In this work they live freely, just as they are, with every kind of stupidity celebrated. Each piece in REDUX has its own script, and Demon Ego says making them took the kind of time and care that goes into a short film.

When the auctions ended, 2 works found new homes: Alien Invasion went to the collector Atlaspop and Unusual Exercise to Billy McSmithers. The other 3 pieces were listed again. Every bidder, win or lose, is due a gift work, STUPID 2026TV Episode 2, which the artist says will soon land in their wallets.

The STUPIDS are also travelling. In the same week, the first Stupid Bands video and a Stupids piece were shown at the Meshahara Digital Art exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, at the invitation of the artist Hersoid.
